Enabling Safe Trade Through Compliance | KEPHIS Board Tour – Embu Region
As part of the final leg of its nationwide stakeholder engagement tour, the KEPHIS Board of Directors visited key horticultural and nut exporters in the Embu region to assess compliance with phytosanitary requirements and deepen partnerships that support export readiness.

On 27th July, the Board toured Flamingo Horticulture in Timau, a major flower grower and exporter. At the facility, KEPHIS plays a critical role in ensuring phytosanitary compliance through regular inspections of greenhouses and packhouses, supporting the issuance of phytosanitary certificates for international markets.

On 28th July, the Board visited Tropical Mac EPZ Ltd in Embu, a macadamia processing and export facility. KEPHIS supports such enterprises through facility audits, inspection reporting, and certification of consignments destined for Europe and other regions.

These engagements demonstrate KEPHIS’s key role in enabling safe trade by ensuring that all plant-based exports meet international phytosanitary standards, protecting market access, upholding Kenya’s export reputation, and contributing to national economic growth.
