Joint Command and Staff College Educational Visit

Headquarters - As part of their course, a group of students from the Joint Command and Staff College in Karen embarked on an educational visit to KEPHIS Headquarters in early March. They were led by their commandant Maj. Gen. Kinuthia.

The educational visit aimed at enhancing their professional knowledge on National Industrial Capacity and understanding the significance of KEPHIS in leveraging Defense, Security and National Development in which KEPHIS plays a key role.

They were taken through the KEPHIS mandate by Onesmus Mwaniki of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory and Food Safety, Eric Were from the Phytosanitary section and Caroline Kavu from Seed Certification and Plant Variety Protection department.

After the presentation on the KEPHIS mandate, the students proceeded for a tour of the accredited KEPHIS laboratories. Mr. Mwaniki took the students through the various sections in the laboratory and the various cutting edge equipment that KEPHIS utilizes to conduct tests that aim at ensuring excellence in plant health and quality assurance in agriculture.
