KEPHIS convened a stakeholders meeting on Food Safety and Market Access
On 10th June 2026, the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) convened a stakeholders meeting bringing together competent authorities, grower associations, certification bodies, and fresh produce exporters.

The meeting, held at the Jacaranda Hotel and supported by TradeMark Africa, was officially opened by the KEPHIS Managing Director, Prof. Theophilus M. Mutui. It provided an overview of the National food safety regulatory framework, Importing countries' market requirements, Responsibilities of competent authorities, Food Business operators, Grower associations, and certification bodies in enhancing compliance with food safety standards and market access, thereby protecting consumer health and facilitating safe trade.
Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD), Pest Control Products Board (PCPB), Kenya Flower Council (KFC), the Agriculture and Food Authority – Horticultural Crops Directorate (AFA-HCD), and the Food Safety Growers Association of Kenya (FSGAK) were among the participants.
